I've never used substrait, CO2 and have had done well with live plants(good growth and such), with the exception of my crawfish devouring them.

Yeah there is a 20 gallon limit in my on-campus apartment. I just left my tanks at home. My parents enjoy them anyways. If you do take a tank, i'd get something small and really easy to tare down, like a betta bowl or some neons in a 5G or something along those lines.
