    Dumb Question -Just Curious.

I have found that blue LEDs light up glowfish better than any blacklight I tried, although they light up the green ones much better than the red or yellow ones. It usually works best to have a normal lighting system, with blue "moonlights" that you can buy for aqariums on ebay or some pet...

    Blacklight Aquarium

I have glowfish, and tried the black light in a few different ways. LEDs do the best at not making the water look milky, but are difficult to find, you basically have to do it yourself and they're hard to get an even glow. The fluorescent or CCL tubes make the water look milky, even if its not...

Bamboo Shrimp Played Dead for 5 Days

I had a bamboo shrimp("filter shrimp") in my matured 50G aquarium, very good setting for it, plenty of food floating around for it to munch on. I come home one day, and it appears dead, its on its back, legs sky high like a dead cockroach, and its a light brown/pink color instead of its darker...

    tanks

That is an awesome site! Really cool that you can order custom-cut acrylic and glass, and custom aquariums at a better price than most online aquarium manufacturers.

    Feeder Fish as Pets? O_o;

I have 2 ponds out back (~200 gallons each) with feeder goldfish, which also serve to feed the turtles back there. We've had 'em a few years, they're a good 6-7'', some good coloration, and have babies every year. We bought 10 origionally, and now there are over 30, including all the babies...

    Veggies

I've fed: Cherries, Carrots, Lettuce, Cucumber, and tomatoes. Tiger barbs didn't seem to care for most of them. I think its mostly cause its too tough on the outside for them to really get a bite out of it. And after its "opened up" the crawfish usually guards it. Even lettus...

    Veggies

I've put various fruits and veggies in my tanks, mostly for my crawfish. The snails (mystery snails) really go at it. And they crawfish loves it. Mollies will peck at it, but they munch down on plants all day, so thats not surprise. The tiger barbs, zebra danios, and giant danios don't...

    Angelfish & Cardinal Tetra Pics

I know i've heard of angels eating Zebra danio's, which are more active and faster than cardinals..... so I'd be a little weary of it.

    I have little ones!

I have 2 ~150 gallon ponds, and put 10 cent feeder goldfish in them. To my surprise, they grow to a good 7-8'', and if you pick some good ones at the store, you can get some pretty good coloration. They're also easy to breed. As long as theres ample plants and such, they breed every year...

    My old fish

Love the carnivours. I've always wanted to get some, but my girlfriend would kill me if I ever bought feeder fish for any reason other than "saving" them.

Tiger Barb feeding with new tank

Thats unusual that yours aren't eating well, like sarcare, its hard to get them to stop eating! They even try and eat up all the bottom feeder pellets, untill the crawfish gets them to go away. Sometimes only a few will be OK, but they really need 6+ to be happy, healthy fish. After a nasty...

Interested in Keeping an Electric Eel

There also exists Electric catfish. I don't they're quite as big, less than 3 feet, I think. They're not quite as dangerous, they only have 250-350 volts in 'em. I dunno, I saw an electric eel at an aquarium and they're pretty boring. They pretty ugly too. They just sit there, which is...

Pic of my tank - will a little lobster have room?

I've kept Mollies, tiger barbs, Giant barbs, Zebra Danios, Rainbow sharks, and Albino Cherry barbs with crayfish with no problems. It also really depends on the specific Crawfish. The 1st one I had was pretty passive. I kept ghost shrimp with him, and he didn't eat them, and I never saw him...

    Electric Blue Lobster???

I have an electric blue crawfish in my 50 gallon. I really like the color, and crawfish have lots of personality. I also had a "regular" crawfish several months ago. The biggest problem I have with him is that they devour live plants. Its not really possible to have live plants with a...

The 29 is coming along nicely.

I've never used substrait, CO2 and have had done well with live plants(good growth and such), with the exception of my crawfish devouring them.

Wut kind of eel is the best for me

Almost any eel will probably gobble up the zebra danio's, white clouds and swordtails.

    quick hands

heh, thats great. Barbs seem to be pretty affectionate. My tiger bards school near me whenever I enter the room. If i move from one side of the tank to the other, they follow me :p:

Question for college students, graduates! Dorms and Aquariums?

Yeah there is a 20 gallon limit in my on-campus apartment. I just left my tanks at home. My parents enjoy them anyways. If you do take a tank, i'd get something small and really easy to tare down, like a betta bowl or some neons in a 5G or something along those lines.

what are some oddball's for community tank?

glassfish are boring IMO. In my tank they sit at the top (they don't like the light) and hardly move. Its hard to even see them because they're up the corner. Cool looking, yes, but in a larger tank they're just boring IMO. I vote for the loach. I've always liked them, and they're not...

    adding a cleaner crew

Or an octilinious (sp?) catfish. They eat algea, even when their older (unlike pleco's and algea eaters) and only grow 2'' or so. and I think they're cute lol Or a mystery snail.
