    Coral Question

Any ideas on how long it takes for them to come back? I've moved them closer to the top of the tank to get the most light. Just curious about how long.

    Coral Question

I just added a new light, 130watts florscent. I had added some Zoa's about two months ago and did not have enough light and they bleached and died, I thought. After adding the lights, I moved them into the direct light and it looks like they may be alive. The stems are turning a deeper brown...

    Mystery crab (hitchhiker)

I dont know if this will help you but I was able to see where the crab that was in my tank was hiding. I was able to lift out the piece of live rock where he was hiding crab and all and remove him by putting a stick near him in his hole. he ran out and I brushed him in another tank. When I put...

    Mystery crab (hitchhiker)

That looks like a gorilla crab. They are members of the stone crab family. The black tips on the claws and hairy appearance gives him away. I hate to hurt anything but this guy is bad news. Interesting when he is little, but he will eat your fish and other things as he gets older and bigger...

    New Lighting

Well Santa came again and left more fish tank goodies! I picked up an Orbit lighting unit. It has duel 65watt compact lights. I am looking to add Zoa's or other soft corals that will do well under medium light. My question is that with two 65watt bulbs on at the same time, do I have 130...

    Skimmer Problem

I think the best thing is to watch it like a hawk! That's what I do and I usually can tell when it's about to start filling up. The muck in the bottom all of a sudden gets lighter. At this stage, even with the issues, I think the benefits far outweigh the problems. I would say that I am...

    Skimmer Problem

I've had the same problem from time to time. I also do not know why it happens but it usually only happens once then it is better.

    starfish

My CCSF goes to the top of the tank and lays 1 to 2 of its arms on top of the water. I just lay a piece of shrimp (From the supermarket) near its mouth and it eats. It also will eat the Nori (Seaweed) from the clip that I have for my Tang and Angel. These things eat just about anything!

    Tang discolored this morning

I have a scopas (Brown) tang and he changes colors all day long! I will look at the tank and he will be a very pale brown and then within seconds, he will be a very dark deep Brown! The color changes are part of their nature. Your yellow should be fine! Don't forget to feed it dried seaweed...

    Seaweed Question

I have been feeding my tank and angel. I decided to go to an asian food store to get more Dried Nori (Seaweed). I got home and noticed that under ingredients, it looks like it was soaked in soy sauce and wine prior to drying it. what does everyone think about using this in my aquarium? I am...

    Bristleworms!! What is best option

Well it had to happen sooner or later! I was looking in my tank and I have seen at least 2 bristleworms! At least that is what I think they are, they look like little pink millipeds. These things are about a 1/4 of an inch long. Should I try to get them out? If so, what is the best way...

What does it mean if mine is florescent green and not as thick as people are saying?

    How to evaluate a skimmer.

I would love to hear a reply to this one. I just got a skimmer myself and I am pulling a wet bright greenish brown gook out of the water. My tank itself is looking better than ever and my fish seem very active and healthy! I have read that there should be a foul odor to what is pulled out...
