one appears to be pigeon blood the other is too young to tell.. I'd keep em in clean water , feed them well then check back.
keep inmind that like angelfish.. color pattern names can vary.
I move fish from tank to tank quite often.. nearly all of my tanks are the same water parameters and get changed regularly .. I simply scoop them and move them
I had to remove the fry from my pair. I'd siphon off a few of each spwn.. I now have a 20 long with 15 -20 young bolivian rams..
It's been fun , I gave a few away to local enthusiast.
the rest may get spread out in other tanks I have
I'll ad my 2 cents on angels.
simply put they are hit/miss.
you can add 4-6 or more and they will be fine..pair you simply increase the chance of a pair bond forming. at which time you will see an increased level of aggression in the tank.(the angles will be establishing a territory and...
I think you need to test your water. you've had some of the fish 3 months?
are any new additions?
what is the history of your tank? maint schedule ?? include water changes.
you can use excel but be aware it may 'melt' some plants(elodea, some crypts and vals)
btw, dosing excel directly on the algae will in many cases kill the algae(H2O2 does this as well)
how long is your photo period also CO will help with algae but you need to find a 'balance'
as you go more...
fry only tank doesn't need any plants.. btw otocinclus will prob eat fry and they don't keep well unless the tank is established with lots of plants(algae)
you can find frozen BBS Hikari has them
I've tried first bites but find the fry prefer BBS or rotifers to the dry/powdered foods.. you can acclimate them to dry foods by mixing the frozen bbs with some dry food(finely crushed flakes will work as well but you will need to powder the food.)
you can just get std HOB.. some are called wet/dry as they have media that works similar to a wet/dry in principle.
you can simply employ sponge filters as well , if you are curious how effective sponge filters are..just ask local breeders... they really only lack in their ability to...
technically Bolivian rams are not harem breeders.. this this can occur.. you are witnessing normal behavior..
you should have some structure in the tank to allow for 'natural' divides.. generally when a pair forms in a 29 it's pretty much only that pair will occupy the territory.
I use...
if you use seeded filter material you should be able to add the fish you want. remember if you need it you have more bacteria available. since you have established tanks. it is prudent to monitor the water as a precaution.
yes, if you add media or a sponge filter that has been running for a week or 2..there should be enough bacteria to establish in the new tank.a word about bacteria.. they will populate in a matter of hours. if you ever wonder why doctors are concerned with bacterial infection.. this is why...
I have several of the aquatrader LED plant fixtures.. I have 2 of the EVO fixtures on 20 longs plants in those 2 tanks are 'wow' tanks.. I have to trim the plants weekly if not more.
I also have the more standard FW plant LED 'Bright' .5w on my 20 l it has 2550 lumens 6500k uses 26watts...
what is really happening is a discussion that really is hitting on different methods.
1 is the fishless cycle where ammonia is added to a tank to help start the cycle this method usually takes between 4-8 weeks to get to a point where the bacteria are 'established'
the other is the 'silent...
