Tubing color, Paint :) I set up the length I needed on my Filstar intakes, put masking tape on threads for primer cap. Used fine steel wool to take off sheen. Spray painted with Rustolium High Gloss Black. Let set for a week and installed. No adverse effects. This was 4 months ago. So there...

yard sales This is a prime example of why there's so much aquariums stuff, (small), at yard sales. Neighbor of mine recently gave me a 20 long. I told her I would help get them on the right track. She said they were completely exasperated and had given up. :sad :sad

Rena filter noise level I'm running 2 XP2's and they make less noise than the Rena 100 air pump that runs with them. I do have them setting on one inch thick styrofoam. Stops what little noise they make from telegraphing to the enclosed wood stand. :) :) :)

You did right I did a 75 6 months ago. Put in required amount of BioSpira, Stess Coat. Bought an put in fish later that day. Had no problems. Next day Ammonia and Nitrites were "0". These readings continued. Never had a Nitrate problem as I change 33% per week.

Filstar I fill my filters up with tank or distilled water before putting lid back on. Never had a problem

Hobby Costs Yep, The floss is doing the job it was intended for. I too buy batting at JoAnn fabrics and cut to size. People not realizing there is a cost involved, money and time, in our hobby are the reason there are so many aquariums available at yard sales.

Filstar I got back into the hobby early this year. Taking advice from this column I put two Filstar XP2's on a 75. Really impressed. My son got into hobby early this year. He's got two XP3's on a 90, no complaints.

Hinge availability Dr's. Foster and Smith. I buy from them occasionally and am pleased.

Rena I'm a low noise freak too!!! Rena is it Just put two Rena 200's in service. I'm impressed. I did set them on a piece of 1/2 inch styrofoam.

BACTER Plus Has any one here used "Bacter plus" by Aquatronics to establish a filter biological colony? It is reccomended by Angels Plus. I'VE HAD SUPERIOR RESULTS with Bio Spira but. It's months before it is available again. Thanks in advance Martin
