    Kenyii or not???

Not a Kenyii. Although I hate to say it .... I am almost positive that is some sort of hybrid.

    Need a list of fish!

Many of the fish in the Metriaclima genus were once labeled as Pseudotropheus. You may even hear Metriaclima and Maylandia being confused as there is a raging debate over it. If mixing Metriaclima w/ Pseudotropheus just take care to pick fish that are not too similar in shape/size/color and...

    Stress caused black color

Although I'm not familiar w/ Oscars, I think the same principles of fish care apply here. I would say to make sure all three sides of the tank are permanently covered w/ something dark (background, contact paper, etc). Next, keep the lights off as much as possible for about a week or...

How big of a tank do I need?

My only suggestion is get a bigger tank or get smaller fish. I think there are some smaller fish that will take feeders. But you will not get many big fish in a 55g.

    Need a list of fish!

Ps. saulosi Any Cynotilapia species Most Labidochromis species don't get too big either. Labetropheus trewavasae are great fish ... the males can easily get about 5" .. but should be fine in a 75g. Here is a sample setup: Cynotilapia afra species (which one is up to you) Ps...

    Aquarium safe adhesives?

I've heard some people being skeptical of using just any silicone based on the fact that they may have mold inhibiting chemicals in them .... which may be harmful for the fish. I went the safest way and ordered a 10oz. All-Glass aquarium sealant (the kind that fits in a caulking gun) from...

    new 65 gal tank

I thought it looked real nice as well. I too think a dark background would further compliment the tank and fish.

    Fish on a plane

If you are not experienced in packaging fish for overnight shipment, I would hesitate doing it. In short ... you will need to starve your fish for about 2-3 days. Place your fish in doubled fish bags with air. You should also use something like Bag Buddies (a relaxer/destressor). Adding...

    dwarf Africans - who knows?

Cool fish ... but not dwarfs. They move huge amounts of sand for spawning pits. I think males get about 5" For african cichlid only discussion visit: http://www.african.uklinux.net/phpBB/index.php

    Daphnia

Yeah, I will be culturing indoors. I probably won't have much access to green water, although I might come up w/ a creative way to grow some. Window sills are not really and option for me as I have cats around the house. ;) Heard a few things about Gerber sweet potatoes as food. thanks for...

    Buying Cichlids online

Thats why you go with reputable breeders. I've found that pretty much all the fish I've purchased from reputable breeders who are known for quality stock have far exceeded those found in the LFS. Not to mention for cheaper prices ... even with shipping.

Bought a new pair of Bubmblebee cichlids

Pseudotropheus crabro aka Maylandia crabro are often considered "larger" mbuna. However, 9" is more the exception than the norm. I'd say 6" would be a bit more average.

    Used tank price guideline

I look for big tanks that are cheaper than what you would pay for in the store. Depending on where it would go and what it will be used for ... I'll judge the overall condition. Also take into consideration age of the gear. I really only look for tanks possibly stands ... not the other...
