Shrooms are easy to propagate just cut a little bit of it's foot off and you have a new mushroom. You can also just direct a power head at it and if it moves it will typically leave bits of it's foot behind and form new individuals. During, and for about a week after either of these processes...
what else do you have in the tank with it?? It looks like something mat be nibbeling on it or having a little bio-chemical warfare just a guess though.
I wouldn't be too frightened of that particular cuc grins they are slighlty toxic yes but, they are far less likely to eviserate themselves and nuke your tank. They will likely need to be spot fed from time to time though . I probably would have waited until the tank was a bit more established...
fwiw, your are likely correct. While I'm far from an expert at sexing mandrins I believe you may have a girl on your hands. Most of the green mandrins imported are boys so you might have an easier time making a pair of them than you would with the greens. I would make 100% sure what you had...
That's rather strange you saw her eat at the lfs then she just quit when you put her in qt? How are you acclimating your fish and did she come from a tank containing a large school of cardinals? I'm very surprised normally they are one of the easier fish to introduce.
Well, you drain the cannister of course then open it and see if the seal is tightly set against the gap in the filter housing. You can take the blunt end of the screw driver and give it a gentel thump if needed. If that doesn't work I'd take it back to the lfs for advise of call the...
To be perfectly honest with you most likely you will loose both halves. C.C. aren't that expensive either so it would be in your best intrest to just buy another.
I posted in your blog but, hey never ashamed to post twice. It was either a worm colony growing inside the living coral colony or maybe and encrusting coral that surronded a colony of tube worms. There is also the possiblility that it was another critter like a rock boring sponge etc. but...
It depends on how big your clean up crew is to be honest. If you have enough little critters to make short work of it and your params look good don't worry about it. If you are detecting ammonia on your test kit ,"in a reef tank for sure" I would start digging. Usually though unless it's a...
I would set up a qt if at all possible. A week isn't long enough and all sorts of nasty stuff can rear it's ugly head. You don't want to have to treat your main tank ever. I would also qt all inverts to avoid some major issues. I wouldn't think of an anem for at least 6 months either.
You might also consider running some carbon in your sump for the next couple of days. A lot of times a grumpy coral can cause a cascade of grumpiness all over the tank. It should help it and your other critters perk back up a bit faster.

Well, as far as time between changes you could do it daily if you wanted to. I've also done a larger than 50% water change with out any problem you just have to make sure that your paramas are the same. The trates have to be comming from somewhere are you running a cannister with media, have...
What my big concerne would be is that they we're both female. If they have changed gender to female I don't think that it's possible for one of them to go back to being male. How long was your clown alone and how big are they?
Well, I would cycle it as you stated and ask the former owner if he's ever had to treat his tank for a disease etc. Sounds like a good find for you though other than the little warning about treatments copper bassed meds tend to stick around for ever. Anyway, again good find and good luck...
