I love these nigerian scams. I saw my first one back in the late 80s - lots of princes and princesses involved of course. They were faxed and snail mail back then but at least I got colorful nigerian stamps. Internet stole my stamps !
Stealing ladies' garments, tsk tsk. Actually, I was thinking of doing the same thing ;-) I did order a few more media bags ($2 each) of a different brand today. We'll see how these hold up.
It's fun for a while but if you keep saving, you'll have 10 dozen mollies in there in a few months. I've been there. Can't give them away fast enough. ;)
You can get a nano diffuser and stick it down low over a lot of foliage. The tiny bubbles will have the maze of leaves to navigate before hitting the water surface. A lot of the bubbles stay on the underside of the leaves for a while so aids in co2 absorption. If the path to the water surface...
Why not use a quarantine tank for a few weeks and give them some salt there, let it drop down to no salt over time, before putting them in the main tank. It's not a bad idea anyway to use QT since a lot of fish from pet stores are unhealthy.
It would be nice if it came w/ some kind of adapter on the bottom so the outflow has enough pressure to work a sprinkler head w/o decreasing suction.. maybe connect it to a pump between python head and hose. Can't stand the sound off all that water going down the drain when I have wilting plants...
Why are you ordering more ? They breed like crazy ! When you turn your back, they magically conjure up another sac of eggs. Cherries are cool to watch. ;)
Yes, I have retired my glass diffuser ;) mainly because it does need high pressure to operate. It took almost a week of pressure built up in my DIY CO2 bottle for it to work, and it worked beautifully until pressure starts to decline. Now, I just feed it into the HOB intake tube and forget about...
OSTRACODS !
Thank you, soobie ! My husband drew that picture and when I showed him some pictures of the ostracod (cypris) on the internet, he positively identified it - 100%. (He was the one who looked at it under a microscope).
I'm new to shrimp-ing so may have overfed some. Don't quite know...
Looks like a hassle and not too pretty either. You could try just a glass diffuser low in the tank that rises to an outflow or feed the Co2 into the intake tube of your HOB.. that is if you have a DIY CO2 or some CO2 source, and not just relying on these fizzy tabs. Doesn't sound very stable to...
Also:
1. How to get rid of them w/o harming the shrimps (vac close to substrate has sucked up quite a few baby to teenage shrimps). I don't want to put fish in there that would eat the baby shrimps.
2. How could they have gotten there and how to keep them from returning or reproducing into...
Maybe copepod larvae ?
Here are some pics, a video and a crude drawing of the critter under a microscope. It is brownish but since the microscope light is so powerful, it looked transparent.
