    Clean wounds on a dog???

Not sure if its available in USA, but diluted tea tree oil can help. I believe Melafix uses a very similar oil. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melaleuca)

    Cyst/Ulcerous sore on dwarf gourami

wow. my gourami has exactly the same thing! i think some angel fish attacked him when he entered the tank. Is there anything else that can help? maybe salt or melafix? I'm just worried that the salt will just sting the little guy. Or maybe its worms? Or maybe we got the gourami from the same...

    Feeding your fish ant eggs

Well while I'm out weeding the garden, and accidently digging up ant nests. I might as well try a few small eggs. I googled it and some people even feed ants to their fish!

    Feeding your fish ant eggs

I came across this strange article http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Ant_eggs Has anyone tried feeding their fish ant eggs? I found a nice colony of black ants in my front yard, and I keep digging up their egg nest when I do the weeding. I'm very tempted ... but I would like to hear your...

    Plant advice

Hey, if you squint a little, that big ugly rock looks like a rabbit! With the fern as the ears. It looks like you can spread out your Java moss a bit more over the rock. And maybe trim the top off some of the wisteria at the back and plant it into the front area. I find wisteria the easiest...

My Fish Tank as of today!

Its Do-It-Yourself Co2 method which uses soda bottles, yeast, water and sugar. It's a cheap alternative if you can't afford a pressurized system. I use DIY, and there was a definite improvement in my plants growth. Search these forums, there's lots of information on how to make one.

    Hi heat, happy fishies?

Did you put the heaters under the filter output ( I don't know what an AC30 is) If you did then this will cool the heater as water flows over it. Especially for Hang on Back filters. So the heater will work extra hard to keep the water temperature up. Because it thinks it's cooler than it...

My Fish Tank as of today!

You should untie the bunch of Rotalas (I think the bunch in the front right corner) and plant the stems individually. This is so the lower leaves can get some light. They are also runners, so pretty soon you will get some new shoots coming up to fill up the gaps. I love your selection of plants...

    Salt: Do you use it?

Thats right. I only use salt in a quarantine when there's ich. Plants don't like salt either. Unless you are growing seaweed.

    Sad news from LFS

Thats very good of them to refuse to sell you the survivors. My LFS told me that they had the same problem (and yes its covered by insurance), but they were still selling the survivors. That's why I always ask how long the fish have been in the tank. If it's less than a week... I come back...

First Posting of my beginner tanks.

Looking good.! I suggest that you attach some of your Java Moss to the decorations or the big rocks and let them grow wild. It will look great in a few months. I use sand substrate too, so don't be afraid of adding a few more live plants.

    These Crazy Angel Fish

My angels did that the first few times, I left them to learn how to be proper parents. After a few months of trial and error, they can now rear babies and even spit food out for the fry.

    HELP! Hornwort Disintegrating

My hornwort did better when it was floating, rather than keeping it rooted down. Ditto about measuring co2. I just use 2 x 2L coke bottles with Glass Diffusers and my plants are happy chappys.

    I hate Cardinal/Neon Tetras!

I heard that cardinals are more stable than neons as they are not overbred as much. But both species do take a while to acclimatise to the tank. And like any other tetras, they are the first to show signs if the tank is in biological danger. Canary in a coal mine, I always say.
