    whats happened to my betta??

His tail wasn't like that the last time you saw him? If it really happened that fast, the tail could have got sucked in the filter and he tore it getting out of the filter.

    Plexi-Glass for a 20 gallon tall planted

I've lost a couple of fish even with a cover. Somehow they find the little gaps in the cover where it's cut out to fit the filter, etc.

    supplies for co2

They mean a measuring cup. Where 1 cup ~= 1/4 liter. It's actually closer to 0.2366 liters, but 1/4 a liter is close enough. It doesn't have to be exact.

    does bio-filter need light?

no light needed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrifying_bacteria (yes I know it's wikipedia, but still a good source of info!) Edit: found some more info: http://www.bioconlabs.com/nitribactfacts.html Nitrifying bacteria are photosensitive, especially to blue and ultraviolet light...

    Help My Kuli Loach

Welcome to AC. How long have you had the loach? I recently moved, and my cory's started behaving like that. I attributed it to not acclimating them properly to the new water conditions. I only moved 5 miles away, so I assumed the water would be the same. But after they started behaving funny...

    Brown Algae outbreak

How much fake decor do you have in the tank? I had a really bad diatom problem (brown algea), which as stated above it from too much silica. Come to find out it was because of the fake rock I was using. Once I removed the fake rock, the diatom problem went away.

Flourish and Excel...how long do they last?

I don't know how long it'll last, I just got mine a couple of weeks ago. But on the bottle of Flourish it suggests to refrigerate it once it's opened. Excel doesn't say anything about refrigerating it on the bottle, so I didn't.

    aquatic plant newbie

If you can get the PetsMart in my area to sale the plants you listed, I'll revise what I said. But as I said, "The only aquatic plant they have, at least in my area, is Amazon Sword". And I wish the PetsMart here sold red lugwigia. I want some, and I'd rather pick it up locally. But I'm going to...

ok got my ten gallon planted any suggestions as to what else?

That's cabomba in the back corners isn't it? How do you like it in your 10 gallon. I'm in the process of setting up a 10 gallon heavily planted tank, and trying to decide on what to put in it. I have cabomba in my 29 gallon, that's about 19" high. And the cabomba grows about 6 to 8 inches a...

    aquatic plant newbie

From PetsMart, none. The only aquatic plant they have, at least in my area, is Amazon Sword. And I doubt it will survive with your current light setup. Not sure about PetCo, I haven't checked out their plants in awhile. But I bet it's similar to PetsMart. If you do get your plants from...

    Spider webs

I don't know where you can get a water spider. But where I grew up, there were tons of water striders. Next time I visit my parents I can grab a few if you'd like.

    Pearling

I suppose it could be due to temperature change. I don't use a thermometer, I just best guess by sticking my hand in the water. And I have seen 1 to 2 degrees change in the past. But I didn't check last night. On the other hand, I have a BGA problem atm. And it was pearling a couple of days ago...

    Attaching Java Fern

I used Saran Wrap when I attached my anubias nana to my driftwood. I already had it and it worked fine. I thought about using dental floss, but the only stuff I have is flavored and decided against it. And I didn't feel like going out and buying fishing line just to tie one plant to a piece of...

    Plant Newbie need help

'dirt' isn't required. But it can help reduce cost in the long run, depending on what plants you have. Some plants will require root tabs if you just have normal sand/gravel. With the special plant substrates, you won't have to use root tabs. The Hagen CO2 system is ok. But for a heavily...
