    Tainted tap water

So today is water change day and its on the news that the tap water is contaminated with ecoli. Boil water order the whole 9 yards. Should I wait to do a water change or what? Will my fish even be effected by this? :yuck:

    Bondo in FW?

Thanx for the slightly educated guess as to bondos toxicity in aquaria. Maybe my question IS beyond the scope of this forum. Obviously if it is sealed properly and never contacts the water, there is no risk of toxicity. My question was....if it were chipped or broken or anything, would this have...

    Hemianthus Callitrichoides Questions

With out adequate c02 your plants will have a hard time taking up nutes, you should consider a c02 system considering you are adding several more plants.

    Hemianthus Callitrichoides Questions

You have good lighting, what determines growth at this point are c02 and nutrients. Temp is also a factor, my book says between 68 and 82f. most tanks are around there anyways just figured I'd add it.

    Acid PH - help

:help: So I have 3 FW tanks. All have a steady PH of about 6.4 - 6.0. Why is this the case? I've been using crushed coral, no c02, aquarium salts in small doses. the ph of my tap is about 7.2 - 7.4. I do 35 - 50% water changes weekly. 10-trates 0-trites 0-ammo except my 10 gal, it has almost 0...

If I were to make my own background or rocks etc, could I use a stainless steel mesh for shaping and cover it in bondo to smooth? Then paint and seal it?

Am I dedicated, or just weird?

Uhh seems strange to me. If you are that dedicated, you must have a heck of a tank!

cloudy tank, first time tank, need direction

You do need your own test kit, its a must. Your store is terribly uninformed, maybe they were hurtin to sell some fish? who knows lol. You should be doing frequent water changes and testing parameters daily to monitor the cycles progression. Fish waste is feeding the cycle so keep him in there...

cloudy tank, first time tank, need direction

Welcome to AC. Did you cycle the tank prior to adding fish? cloudy water is a great sign of the cycling proccess. The water will clear on its own once you have the correct amount of bacteria to support the bioload of whatever your putting in the tank. You should read up in the articles...

To Stir or not to Stir

I would like to state that I am uniformed. lol. When I had posted I didnt realize this was about saltwater. I have only freshwater setups. I read this post in the new post section and didnt bother to read under what forum it was listed. If my advice was bad I apologize.

To Stir or not to Stir

If you mixed up the sand on a regular basis as I have suggested you wouldnt have rotten pockets of filth in the substrate to create the noxious gas bubbles. But yea just let the garbage rot under the sand undisturbed until it comes out of its own volition some day. I was wrong this seems like...
