No, that's the strange thing. I would say that the algae has been increasing over several months. A series of large water changes may help? I am still puzzled about the water chemistry of this though. I've had this tank running for about 2.5 years with only modest amounts of algae until now.

Darn, I tried blanched zucchini twice this week and he didn't touch it. The catfish and loaches were all over it, but not him. He's really not a very good eater!

Ah, zucchini, good idea. He's got a better chance of getting a good feed of that because it can stay there for a few hours. The other fish gobble up the brineshrimp too quickly for him I think. :)
