    Deep Sand Beds

You need some movement in the sand bed. look to add some diggers to your mix. I use MTS (Malaysian trumpet snails). I have 2 inches of organic potting soil capped with and inch of play sand in a 75gallon. My plants grow like weeds. Sending runners and flowering. The rule of thumb is to...

    DIY Driftwood

I'm looking for a general opinion out there. I have a empty 75gal tank in my basement that is calling for some new friends. In this tank I want to use pots for my plants, but hide them using rock and driftwood. I work walking distance from Lake Erie, and have access to all sorts of driftwood...

    LED bulbs?

That is really impressive for the cost on those bulbs. Huge cost advantage over DIY LED's. I'm going to order a couple to test for myself!

First Stab at DIY canister filter!

These builds are always inspiring. You will get a wave of posts about how your design stinks and why it will not work. Can't wait to see how this turns out. Good luck!

    Guppy Endler Fry

I'm feeding them crushed flake once a day. Every evening, I'm feeding them some frozen food from Omega One. It's new formula coming to market soon. It's real small once thawed and the fry love it!

    DIY CO2 'recharge' ?

Your yeast never really dies...it just gets drunk and goes to sleep. If you want to be frugal about your DIY reactor, carefully pour off the fermented liquor leaving the sediment. The yeast is in there sleeping. Add that to the new mix and things will get busy again.

    DIY Canister filter

The design seems to be like a deconstructed fluval canister. I guess they don't know what they are doing either. The intake of the canister should go directly to the base of the can. Return pump should be at the top of the assembly to reduce the height of the head. This shortens the height...

Painting the back of the aquarium

I have used spray paint, but I think latex would be much easier to remove if you changed your mind on the color. Sent from my Nexus S 4G using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

    calling all electricians

It's a little more complicated than the two posts above. You will need to know the specs of the led's to begin with. Do you have a link to what you bought? Most high power LED arrangements will not use a typical power supply to light them. The use a constant current supply. A constant...

    do all snails need calcium?

We were talking about homemade foods the other night at my fish club. our topic covered snail jello like the recipe posted on the sticky. It was brought up during the discussion that the shells of most freshwater inverts are not made of calcium carbonate, but of similar proteins to...
