    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

You have a problem with being direct and honest? Hmmm, that is something I only dream of, I guess, huh? I certainly have made all these mistakes, and more in life (I am 55, I call it "doin' the speed limit! <grin> ) ... if you think someone has done something I have never done in my life, let...

    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

LOL! Hey, does your wife have a sister, who was given away at birth, is lost, and she is looking for her? I think I may have married her! ... <frown> Actually, I joke, I am lucky to have this one. And, very lucky she puts up with the likes of such as me ... :) Regards, JS

    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

Well, thanks! I appreciate any and all information on subjects which catch my interest. Mainly, I was afraid you had seen something I was ignorant of, if that ever happens (and my wife can point out, it frequently occurs <grin> ), please bring it to my attention. Warm regards, JS

    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

Really? Can you quote the source you obtained that data from? I can buy 50% glutaraldehyde for a reasonable price, diluted to 2.5%, that is a LOT! Regards, JS

    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

In my area, Flourish Excel is ~$12.00 per 100ml ... this is NOT cheap by any means ... but ****, where are you buying your supplies at (what state, city?) Regards, JS

    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

OK, I skimmed that (it is a lot to read) is there any thing you would like to specifically quote, which you feel is something necessary to bring to my/our attention. Yes, it is toxic in sufficient quantities (what isn't?), however, everything I have seen seems to imply it is quickly neutralized...

OK, since I am here and onto "controversial" subjects ...

UREA => ammonia => nitrites => nitrates ... end of story (or so my 'education' on the nitrogen cycle goes) So, I have (last couple of months) began substitution of Urea for Potassium Nitrate. I think, I have better growth of plants (not to mention I bought an 80 pound sack of this from the...

Any reason not to buy "feeder" fish and keep them?

I forgot to mention, MOST guppies I purchase these days do NOT have fungus, bacterial infection--I find them, most often, dying from internal parasites--with NO signs, external, of such an infection. Since medications which work on these parasites are rather "back shelf", most just wonder why...

Any reason not to buy "feeder" fish and keep them?

If I HAD to buy a guppy with ICK. I would first place it in an aquarium with 1 tsp of salt per gallon (and perhaps make this an initial 1/2 tsp, then a 1/2 tsp 2-3hours later), then, by 1 tsp per gallon, I would work up to 4 tsp per gallon. Let me tell you, even the most aggressive ICK will...

Any reason not to buy "feeder" fish and keep them?

Indeed, a true guppy will take brackish water in stride. They can survive in full saltwater, if acclimated at a reasonable rate ... the lowly guppy is a remarkable creature! Regards, JS

    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

You know, I can't believe that, actually, I "skated" the important 'point' which your post implied -- if you suspect that SeaChem--Flourish Excel, is only 2.5% glutaraldehyde "re-bottled" and sold to us at a GOOD MARKUP PRICE, at this point, I tend to agree with you ... thanks for that post...

    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

Well, I think that is a lot of "assuming", however, I also think you VERY close to be correct ... let's wait until we hear from jmhart--he always has some interesting comments which can disclose facts not immediately apparent ... Regards, JS

    Flourish Excel IS Glutaraldehyde

OK, I finally got around to playing with some figures ... Let's take 2.5% glutaraldehyde, for a real world example. It seems the most widely available product, and we can scale other strengths if necessary. 2.5% per liter = 2500mg per 1000ml (1 liter) = 250mg per 100ml = 25 mg per 10ml =...

    Flourish has copper?!

jmhart: Ahhh, just have a spot of fun here with a touch of tongue in cheek humor. You know a product will be used when it works well. I do worry about the fish though. I don't imagine there has been any long term studies on fish health and this product, such as cancer, tumors, just general...

    Flourish has copper?!

WOW, what a rush, just got a vision; Water leaking down though a cemetery and the embalming fluid leaching into the surrounding lakes, streams, creeks, ponds, etc. ... and there is, suddenly!, an outgrowth of plants which no one can explain! <chuckle> Regards, JS

    Flourish has copper?!

Hey, does it really sound like I have a LOT of disagreement with what you have just stated? No, no, I think not ... However, you do realize you are dropping embalming/dentist-sterilizing fluid into your tank, right? Now, you do as you please; indeed, I will be the LAST to tell you what you...

    DIY Chiller Project

I hope you are NOT suggesting I place aluminum metal into the water column which my aquarium water flows through! Now, NON-magnetic stainless I might go for--of course glass is exellent--I don't have a problem with most plastics, etc. ... Regards, JS

P.S. I don't know what that little puppy has ate! Hope it won't harm your vegetables though! [ROFLOL] Regards, JS

    Flourish has copper?!

I really don't know how to put a proper "spin" on all this ... so, let's just look at it 'front on.' This stuff is embalming fluild, i.e., it preserves dead corpses and it does this "**** WELL." And, we are supposed to 'drop' this chit into our tanks with no worry--since a large company tells...

You know, I can be rude too--and, without meaning too! Excellent article on the use of a recycled freon unit! Thanks! Regards, JS
