So I got lucky and someone donated a tank to the pet store I work at and it had an incandescent hood so I asked and they let me take it home. I have put 2 GE daylight 6500K bulbs in it and put it on my tank but it looks really yellow. It definitely is brighter on the plus side.
Has anyone else...
Nope, it is a tube not incandecent. I got some root tabs.
About the lighting, I can get a double bulb HO fixture but it would require me to redesign my hood. Out of curiosity if I was to cover the aquarium with a sheet of lexan from the hardware store would it filter out the stuff the plants...
Ok so I got some pictures of what is happening with the stems. The first picture is of a plant still sort of attached to the substrate and the second is of a plant that has broken free and what it looks like after.
As for the 3 things you have said, I can get the CO2 and fertalizers (which I...
Hey guys,
So I have got a question. A while back I started to put live plants in my tank (January or so). The plant were basically just wisteria. When I first put them in they grew a bit, for maybe a couple of weeks but from that point on they have not grown a single bit and they are starting...
ok about the screw in CFLs are those going to give me a good viewing light plus the right spectrum for plants? The reason I ask is cause I have tried to use normal tube bulbs instead of the specific aquarium bulbs and they are all yellow when I put them on my tank.
Ok so right now on my tank (20 gallon) I have a single tube running at 15 watts. What I wanted to know is if there is any lighting strip out there that I can put on my tank that has 2 bulbs instead of the one or am I stuck unless I get a bigger tank?
FYI the current strip is on a cover. The...
Hey guys. I finally got some live plants for my aquarium. Nothing to special as all I have is a low light tank. I ended up getting some hygrophila difformis (or wisteria) and planted it yesterday in my tank but it is looking droopy. I am just wondering if this is normal or if the plant will...
Majority of CaCO3 is mined and quarried form rocks. I doubt that dead coral is used though in any substantial quantity, the green freaks would blow a gasket.
FYI more pure CaCO3 used in drugs comes mainly from marble.
Ya when I got a job at a lfs I actually spent like hours researching these kind of things that are supposed to cycle the tank immediately. Cause like should I sell something like this in good conscious if I know it is BS knowing that they will come back later that week with dead fish. What I...
Good to hear that he is getting better. I would guess that it is or rather was a bacteria or parasite. I have looked around a little and other people have experienced holes developing through (clean through) the fish. For example take a look at this picture of a hole straight through the side of...
if it fits then I don't see why not. The bacteria will survive as long as they are kept wet and they have a food source. If you take care of both those criteria then you are set.
