I'm getting out of the hobby. I have four fish left, neon tetras that are healthy as far as I know. I think I'll have an easier time selling the tank if I don't have to make the buyer promise to take care of my fish, so I'd love to give the fish to anyone willing to care for them.

This hobby just didn't grab me like it does some people. I've slowly lost fish in the system I set up in January. After a rough cycle when Biospira didn't work as quickly as expected, I have been doing 25% PWCs 2-3 times a month. Not the most attentive care, I acknowledge, but hopefully not...

You're right that I forgot a step. I wasn't quite as careful about it as you are, but I actually let the bag float in the tank for 20-30 minutes, adding some tank water and let it float some more, then added the fish.

I did initially add all of my fish at once, but remember, I was using Bio-Spira. I wasn't 100% satisfied with the results---maybe my expectations were just all wrong---but I was following the directions.

Well, I'm back in action. It was a real hassle... and now I'm not sure that any of it was needed. Drove 12 miles to PetSmart, swapped out powerheads. FORGOT to get the impeller and the unit that holds it; I left those attached to the old powerhead. Drove another 12 miles back to PetSmart...

Can the fish make it until tomorrow without the filter? I have no idea how long they could go.

I just noticed that the filter in my Eclipse 12 is not moving water. The pump makes a kind of grinding noise, but no water is moving up into the filter area. It would be tomorrow before I get to the store to exchange it. I assume that this thing doesn't really have any user serviceable parts...

I double checked, and yes, it is facing the right way. Just not as many bubbles as before. Actually, from a visual standpoint I like it better.

I just added a check valve to my air pump. It seems to have reduced the air flow quite a bit. I'm not worried about the fish; with my Eclipse 12 system the filtering process is supposed to aerate the water well enough that you don't even need a pump. It is really just for visual interest. I...
