tagging along.. Also interested in planted tanks but have never done any research into what they require. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!:headbang2:
One of my freshwater buddies has a 90 gallon with a jaguar cichlid. After feeding him an earthworm he found outside (I know... bad idea), he found a bunch of little white worms in the tank. He completely cleared the tank, put some salt in it, and did a 40% water change and all the worms...
I'm a beginner at keeping a reef though I've had a FOWLR for about 2 years now and that is going fine.
I want to start up a nano reef with some lower to med light easy to keep corals. I have an extra 29 gallon 30" long and have most equipment but I need a light. Any ideas.
What do you...
Sweet, thanks for the awesome pics. And thanks guys. The eel actually jumped out of the tank about a week ago but seems to have recovered very fast as this picture was taken last night.
Well, I don't know what to do. Over the last two days the puffer isn't doing so good. He looks fine but his eyes seem to look a little weird/ cloudy. They aren't popping out at all though. He didn't eat last night which is a first but just paced back and fourth quickly which was different...
Well, I have some bad news. The butterfly randomly died for unknown reasons yesterday. He was eating fine the day before (ate a few small pieces of shrimp and frozen formula 2 which he seemed to love). I came home the next day at about 5pm and everything seemed fine with the tank. I got back...
No I don't. Would they be good to have? There is a bit of light at all times though. from lights somewhat near the tank. And there are constantly people passing by and usually lights on in the room next to the tank. So there is almost always some light on the tank. At least enough to see a...
No not really i don't think, I've seen the butterfly nip at him twice so far but he doesn't seem bothered by it and just swims away. I don't know that could be why though, maybe he wants to keep his distance from the butterfly? He doesn't seem to be stressed about it at all though and when it...
The butterfly and puffer seem to both still be doing good but I had a question about the puffer. Although I'm sure he's still settling in and he is still pretty small, he spends most of his time in the back of the tank either under the overflow box or behind the powerhead When it comes to...
true, but if everything that is going in is being eaten, there is less going in than if food going in wasn't being eaten. So less food in= less waste I guess.
Thanks for the tips with the power heads, I will definitely look into switching in up a bit. And yeah I agree, once these guys bet big, my Bio-load will be pretty dang big. And I wanted to get more fish!!!!
I'm still thinking about adding something, esspecially with the loss of the hippo...
What would you suggest in terms of powerheads? Do you think I should move my current ones around at all? As you can see they are sorta 2/3 up the tank. Do you think I should move them down at all? And what would you suggest adding? I have 3 koralia 3's right now?
Thanks, and yes I know. My current plan is to try my best on cutting back on light/ overfeeding. I am planning on also getting some chaeto to go in the first chamber of my sump that only has 2 heaters in it. This way I can cut back on excess nutrients as much as possible. I just need to get...
Thanks alot, I'm hoping all these other fish stay healthy as well. I'm yet to see any unusual behavior in any of the other fish and they all seem healthy so hopefully it stays that way. I've really been surprised at how well the butterfly and puffer have adjusted to the tank.
I have not...
No problem, as promised here's a few pics of the fish. Unfortunately I got home today and the Hippo was dead under a rock. I don't know why it didn't work out but I have no future plans for any surprise fish that I haven't witnessed eating at the fish store already. He just never really ate...
