Started working at a great LFS and couldn't resist finally trying out a salty tank after being a planted geek for a few years now. Started with a 20 long then upgraded about a month ago to this 33 long with a 20 long sump. New tank has a couple of scratches, but for 10$ couldnt pass it up. Has...
Play sand from just about anywhere will work. Just have to make sure that you wash it a TON before you put in and fill the tank, otherwise you will end up with lots of debris in the water.
Loving the results so far, still a work in progress with dialing in ferts and lighting but cant complain. First pic is from a couple of months before the upgrade to Co2. Hope you enjoy! :thm:
Pretty much what it looks like in the pic, two ring shaped protrusions around the fin/gill area. Dont see any tails or anything just the two rings, my guess is a parasite of some sort but no clue what it is or where it could have come from. Last thing I added to the tank was a farlowella about...
Hate to have to put this little fella down, but atm i have no other tank for qt and dont want to risk this being spread. If i cant find out what it is or get any heads up from anyone in the next couple of hours or so, im gonna put him down.
Just noticed this on one of my cardinal tetras, no one else is showing any issues and everyone is acting normal. No new critters added in quite a while. Only thing that has changed in the past 4 months is I added pressurized Co2 last week.
Params are all normal...0/0/10ish, temp at 78ish, 40...
On my 40b planted communty, I run a AC110 and a Fluval 205. I have great water movement and **** near crystal clear water. The 110 is a workhorse in my opinion, can be LOADED with media and still has a good gph.
For now just gonna keep up on wc and hope it was just a scratch or something. Never tried any med foods so not sure on how he would take to it, but he has no problems eating anything else i drop in. Have a extra 10gallon in the garage i could always set up in the event it gets worse. Thanks
Just on the one eye. Thats what my first thought was, a injury, and did a WC as soon as I seen the issue. Looking at him more it appears that the eye is enlarged a bit and puffing out. Did some checking on the net and closest thing I could come up with was pop eye, but would think other fish...
Have a male apisto with what appears to be a white spot on his outter eye lens. The eye itself as begun to cloud over. Tank params are all in order 0/0/20ish with temp at 79. Other two apistos in the tank are fine. The one with the eye issues is acting fine and eating fine just looks a little...
Haha me and a buddy were going through one of the many boxes of fish stuff the other day, and after finding about 20 bags of carbon he said something along the lines of "Your set for filtering water when the world ends"
Are you planning on just staying ahead on refills to avoid the possible tank dump? As Ive said before in this post I was hoping the ph controller would prevent it by shutting the system down if the ph started to drop from a sudden influx of Co2.
