    making tetras less shy

Just in my non-objective observation, my neons came out more with time, with larger group size of neons and of other fish, with addition of tall and floating plants, and I think with extra water movement (air stone). Once they learned feeding time they would always come out for that.

Where oh where has everyone gone

Hmm, other aquarium forums are buzzing. The aquarium professions at the expo last week said the state of the industry is pretty good--especially for those selling marine and doing custom tanks. I don't think there is any general downturn.

3 gallon Betta with snail or shrimp?

I have one betta that lives with rcs very well. But you never know with bettas.

    Alas poor jumper

I had not heard that. I could certainly try a night light. the breeder said his were jumpers, and it certainly proved true. Such a nice showa female. So far the fry look like koi swordtails (orange and white) but I do not know if the black spots come later.

Its kind of an odd look but it has potential.

3 gallon Betta with snail or shrimp?

I think nerites would be a good option, the are small and pretty. A plastic plant will give them cover and help avoid the betta harassing them. Most of my bettas ignored snails pretty quickly, but some of them just can't leave anything alone.

3 gallon Betta with snail or shrimp?

I don't think the ghost shrimp would make it, I have one betta who ignores shrimp (rcs) but others attack them. But something like some red ramshorns would probably be fine.

3 gallon Betta with snail or shrimp?

It might be nice to set it up with a snail and take her to choose her own betta. That way she will get to choose the one she thinks is prettiest?

    Alas poor jumper

I did some home to find 5 sword tail fry in my quarantine tank, they must have been in hiding since I moved the adults to my office.

    Alas poor jumper

I have now stapled velcro tabs on the corners of the net to ensure to stays exactly in place. Hopefully my two remaining females will come up with some replacements.

    Alas poor jumper

The net over my office tank slipped a bit and my nicest female swordfish managed to jump out through the tiny gap. Just whining about it, sigh.

    I Need Advice =P

As mentioned the water will not start to cycle until after you have a source of ammonia in there. It can be ammonia, fish food, a small hardy fish--but something is needed.

    Issues with guppies

You always need to do water changes, always. Only the fish you add after cycling and after instituting a water change system will live.

    True or False?

False. And it is always a good idea to test water, and to do partial water changes.

    Extruded plastic safe?

Does anyone know if the plastic used by 3D printers is safe to use for aquarium decor?

    Goodbye

So, people asking for advice are boring, but experienced users posting about what interests them won't fix the problem. But instead of just leaving one chooses to post repeatedly about leaving. Goldilocks syndrome?

    Missing Fish

When did you last see it? I have had smallish fish "disappear" during a 2-3 period. Either decomposed or scavenged by other fish I presume.

    Compact internal filter

I have used the Fluval and the Tom nano internals and they both work very well so long as you clean or change the filter approximately weekly.

    Pomacea Canaliculata. Finally!

I love my cana snails. Make sure you keep a good source of calcium in there for them. They seem even more susceptible to shell eroosion than difussa
