$1/gal sale = dangerous.

I love it when Tankaholics get on a roll like this. Wish I could get the wife to see I'm not the only crazed individual out there.

That's easy. Show her this thread, and we'll vouch for how crazy you are!

Words to live by; The optimal number of aquariums is in the formula of 'Current Amount + 1'

The way I've been slacking on projects around the house, I'd REALLY get the stink-eye if I went to work on a DIY 55gal stand. Pretty sure it's going to be store bought, thus allowing me to slide under the radar for a few more months. :uhoh:

I like the look and feel of Petco's "Brooklyn metal tank stand". One of those for a 55G would be about $80 shipped to the door. Only thing that scares me with them is the 4 small contact points on the tile floor in the laundry room. A cabinet style would spread out the load better I'd think.

You could cut a 2 x 4 into four foot lengths and place it under the contact points. Or maybe even 14 or so inch lengths and do the short sides.

We have a small metal shelf unit at the door to the laundry room that we store work shoes on. If you don't put something under the four feet of that metal stand, you'll wind up with the same four "rust dots" that I have on the tile in my laundry room. Get creative, even small squares of acrylic would help.

I get the "stink eye" every time I step in the fish room. Guess I need to work in stealth mode.

LOL! At this point my wife is a total tankaholic enabler. She's the one who suggested the spot for the 55. That's the story I'm sticking with anyway. :uhoh:

It wasn't 10min later I was on my way to Petco with the minivan ready to accept a large tank.
