So this is my second scape.. I have a 20 gal tall high tech community "Nano Jungle" tank that I got going about 4 months back after reading an LA Times article about aquascaping. In that tank I had a pair of Samurai Gourami start to breed so I bought this:
10 gal starter kit from my local LFS, with stock filter, light, and sponge filter.
Originally the plan was just gravel and some floating plants for the fry and father who would be mouth brooding. Well, the father swallowed the eggs when I transfered him, so I thought I may as well keep him in there, and put the female in with him so they can hopefully mate again and then the plan is to just move her out.
I added some eco complete, and low light, low maintenance plants. I didn't cycle, just used the water from my high tech on a water change and only use RO water when changing. It's been up and running now for about two weeks so it seem stable. I am planning on adding a small school of microrasboras and maybe three CPO's if I can get my hands on any, and a few more plants are on order with my LFS to fill out the scape but here it is so far... my "Samurai Island"
