Hi! I'm new to the community =) I am always looking for advice and suggestions and was hoping you guys could help me with a question. I got a 10 gallon from a friend, in preparation I got an Aqua Clear 20 filter, gravel, and a fake plant (will decorate more with time :D ). I want zebra danios or white cloud minnows between 4-6 of them, 1 male dwarf gouarmi, and 3 cory catfish, would this set up be okay? Is it too much? I don't want to overstock. I also have a 30 gallon tank with 13 swordtail fry (2-3 weeks old) 2 apple snails and 8 little snails (which I hope don't become a pest). What I want to do is give a majority of the swordtails away once they are old enough and big enough to the local pet store in order to prevent inbreeding and overcrowding, I was also hopiong to place maybe 3 or 4 of the swordtails in the 10 gallon without overcrowding and use my 30 gallon for convict cichlids and maybe yo yo loaches in case the snail population explodes is this allright as well?

Sounds OK so far. Be sure your tank is fully cycled before adding any fish (if you don't know how, do a search for "fishless cycling.").

Not with the other fish you mentioned. It's either/or — you can have danios and a gourami or the swordtails. The cories will be OK either way, but I would choose a smaller species (maybe pandas or melinis). If you go with swordtails, you'll need to remove the babies as soon as practical. Letting them grow up in that small of a tank will be too much bioload.

When your convicts get in a "family mood," they might become aggressive toward the loaches, maybe killing aggressive. Can't say for sure; convicts are all individuals. If you do put them together, make sure the loaches have some good rock and/or driftwood hiding spots where the convicts can't reach them.
