I have a 10 gallon aquarium setting empty and I was wanting to know what I would need to turn it marine. I have a Whisper 30 filter and flourescent light. It has gravel in it now but I was going to change to sand. What fish can be kept in a tank this size safely?

your always going to be very limited as to what fish you can put in there....you can review this link, which will give you an idea for a tank your size...

A couple very small fish MAXIMUM, some live rock, few corals, couple of snail/hermits, and a nice little reef could be had...

you could have mollies, clownfish, some inverts, look at the link atnixon gave you lol...

10G setups can be great if you have the time. They do require a bit more daily care, but I find it easiler to clean than my 35G freshwater.

I would reccomend reef setups for nanos. Only because you can't really place many fish in. Most softy corals can do great in small nanos and you have sucha wide selection to choose from so you don't bored xD.
 
If you keep up on weekly WC's of like 2 gallons then all you need is small power heads for water movement and you HOB for running carbon. Some decent lighting for corals and a heater.

What is an auto top off filter for?

Can I use the gravel from my freshwater aquarium? Also can I use some rocks I got from the beach last year? What is the best yet cheapest salt for it?
