i have an empty 10 gallon and was exploring the idea of turing it into a mini reef and maybe throw in a clown fish. I don't know much about the idea just seemed kind of cool.

a few questions:
1. Is this a completley stupid idea?
2. Would it be very costly?
3. Hard to maintain?
4. What types of coral would be suitable?
5. Sand substrate or something else?
6. Any thing different about Lighting,Filtration,Heating I should know?

1 no

2 no

3 a little more work since it's smalll

4 most low light ones unless you halide it

5 I suggest sand, stay away from Crushed Coral

6, liverock and sand is your filter, keep up on water changes though lighting can be as much or as little as you want, heating comes usually from your pumps and lights but a heater works well too

thanks

thanks for the help, i think that sounds like a really cool idea, all though i still do have some research to do :) .

1. No
2. Depends on a lot of factors.
3. Mine's no trouble
4. Depends on your lighting/tank inhabitanta
5. I'd go with sand
6. Get LR. Lighting's very important if you want corals.
