10g stocking w/ ballon belly

Hi,

Well in my opinion, and in many authors of the books I've read opinions, Cories should be kept in groups.

It's why I use ottos instead of cories in my 10G tanks. 10G just isn't enough space to have a nice group of cories. Besides, they looks so much cooler in a nice sized group :D

So I've been looking around a lot, and I have fallen in love with rams- both the german blue and the golden. They don't have any around here that I've seen (central IL or St. Louis area), so I'd have to get one online....anyway, by any chance would a ram work with my balloon belly and perhaps one other?
So, 1 ram, 2 balloon bellies. Kind of a weird combo, but I don't have any more tank space :-)
Thanks for all the replies so far!

Hi,

Rams get too big for a 10 gallon.

That's what I thought

I thought they might. I'd read a lot of conflicting information about how much room they need. Think I'll stick with my original plan.

Also, CoryLover, sorry about your dog :-(

Another idea

What about the two balloon bellies and possibly 6 of the little orange von rio tetras? I don't know if I'd still have room for the panda cories or not- I would want 2 or 3. I guess I could do a couple of otos instead. Thoughts?

Thanks so much for everyone's suggestions so far. So many cool fish I like....so little room/funds for more tanks! :-)

hmmm..

not sure what the kind of fish you mentioned is. I just saw the orange flame von rio tetras (and I think they also had a different color as well) at Petsmart last week. They were super tiny, and it said their max size was 1.5 inches. Assuming this info is correct, would they work?
Thanks

Hi,

Thanks!

I would just go with your original plan and get two or three Platies, three Pandas, and two Ballon Belly Mollies.

Just my opinion.
