10g suggestions.

shellies? is that Shelldwellers?

hmm interesting. hermit fish :)

look like ciclids. unfortunatly never seen one in a store anywhere around here

well my tank is setup. I think im going for the dwarf puffers if they are where i hope i saw them last.

I soaked everthing in the tank for about 4 hrs in strong bleach solution. then i soaked everything in water containing 2x the normal dechlorinator overnight. rinsed heavily and tested for chlorine ..was zero good.

then i vacumed the entire bed of my 20g into the 10g and filled the remainder with dechlorinated water.

I dosed it with about a teaspoon of clear ammonia to test for cycle. unfortunately i used the chemical that screws my ammonia test up (i think).. after 6 hrs im getting a very small nitrite spike .. hope my morning the ammonia will be gone. will repeat until about wendsday when i hope to get the puffers.

how much waste do 3 puffers create? i read somewhere 5ppm ammonia spike simulates a full bioload for the tank, which is where (the best i can tell with my muddied test) i put it.

3 DPs is a very light bioload. Puffers grow to barely an inch, so three inches of fish in a ten gallon shouldn't be too bad. The 3 gallon per DP rule is mainly due to their aggressive /territorial behavior.

i know someone is gonna yell at me for this but i am satisfied with my two puffers in a 10 gallon they are a figure 8 and a spotted. they get along great always playing around and following each other doing the exact same thing. i hope u enjoy your puffers.

i would like to get a gsp or fig8 puff, but if the DP have as much personality i will be fine. I need plants help with water quality. im pretty sure i read that java moss and anacharis as well as most other plants hate brackish. not to mention when they get old enough to go full marine.

also, if the DPs breed that would be nice. that will probably be my 4th - 10th tank if that happens. :)

of course .. that porcupine puffer at my lfs might talk me into SW ... big blue eyes .. and it is completely unafraid of anything .. worse than a puppy ..comes to stiff your fingers when you get close and everything.

lol...I was with MooMan there about the shellies. I just saw a batch of them at an lfs in my area just the other day....little babies scooting around that tank and all..very cool !

I have a shelf underneath my 20L that is just the right size for a 15...I may just do up a shellie tank myself ! :D

thanks for all your suggestions. Lots of tough decisions. the shellies sound cool i will have to check in on those also.
