125 Gallon - Ehiem vs. Ehiem vs. Ehiem.

I did'nt order the filters yet, I'm still shopping around! I will probably buy the hydor 200s and use one of my heaters on my 55 Gallon as a backup, since I'm shutting the 55 Gallon down.

In the end I chose 2217 because it was very reliable, I rarely hear bad stories about them. I went away from the 2026 and 2028 because they are too expensive, I rather get a 3rd filter.

Is it a good idea to use the 3 filters for different purposes?

BTW is it possible to take the output out of the tank and put it in a bucket? So theoretically it should pump water out of the tank? (for water changes)

This is my first canister filter and I'm buy 3!

1. Left side: Eheim 2217: Used for Mechanical filtration with hydor 200 attached.
2. Middle: Filstar XP3: Used for biological filtration with UV sterilizer attached.
3. Right side: Eheim 2217: Used for water purification with inline Co2 reactor.

All the filters will have one foam pad in the first chamber to block some debris. Sounds good?

Sure does!

Awesome, can't wait to see your review of the pros and cons of each filter.

Are you brand new to canisters?

Yes, yes I am, its quite exciting for me too! Never owned one canister and I'm about to buy 3!!

I am still brainstorming about the possibly problems with the set up.

wow, sounds fun! I just bought my first canister for my 20 gallon (a 2213, really, looking back on it, I should have gotten a 2215) and I love it! There is no noise! In the future though, I will probably move the 2213 to an ADA 30C and upgrade my 20 gallon to a 2215

I look forward to see which filter you like better and why.
You don't see too many people buying both of the major brands for the first time with an impartial view...
