I'm fed up with the way my 55 gallon looks empty, So i thought about every changing temporary landscape since all of the inhabits like to mow down plants.

I was thinking that i could use my empty 15 gallon as a plant farm to grow some non demanding and vigarous growth plants. I would transfer plants or trimmings to the main tank once they are large.
My questions are
Plant stock(if they could last a week in the main tank)
Lighting ( i was thinking DYI T5 or cheaper corallife slim fixture)
Filter (no inhabits, so just flow right?)

I'd go with duckweed and anacharis if you're wanting something for your cichlids to graze on. Both grow rapidly and my mbuna loved eating both plants.

Watersprite grows very fast and is soft==good food.
Does not need any special light (just 6500-10000K bulbs). You may not even need a filter if you use the waste water from display tank. .
