What are the possibilties for a 15 gallon freshwater tank? Any chance of getting a type of eel? How big would the tank have to be to get an eel? Please leave all the comments you can!! It would be very helpful!! Thanks!

I really dont think a 15 gallon is big enough for any eel, FW or BW. I'm not really sure of a minimum tank size for eels, but I would think at least 30 or 55 gallon. Why not try for a small community tank?

I also agree with the above. A 15 would most likely be to small. There are a couple different types of fish that would go good in a tank that size. Listed below are a few.

Cherry Barbs
Guppy
Betta
Harqlin Rasbora
Cories
Dwarf Gourmai
Oto's
Neons
Tetras

Ther are also other that will suit a tank that size. The amount of fish will depend on other fish that may go into the tank

If you like eel type fish, you might take a look at kuhlie loaches. They have black kuhlies and striped kuhlies. YOu could certainly have a small group of them in a 15 along with a few other fish to use the upper levels of the tank.

The smallest freshwater eel I can think of is a zig zag eel, but even they need a tank more like 30 gallons plus. You could get a Kuhli Loach and pretend it's an eel! ;)

Well what kind of fish would be a good community for a 15 gallon tank? Please put in a list of fish that would get along that would be a very good looking, healthy and successful community. Thanks alot. -A

You would be fine with a community tank of tetras (many options: white skirt, black skirt, phantom, cardinal, neon, penguin), corydoras are awesome (just get a small variety such as pygmy and panda), and you could also get livebearers (swordtail, molly, guppy). I also have a 15 gallon (long) tank with 5 tiger barbs. They are very healthy and always schooling together. Very active fun fish, just don't put them with slow moving fish, they are fin nippers). Have Fun!

IMO you cant have a community without Cory's... Great fish to watch!

4-5 cories, 5-6 small tetras and maybe a betta or dwarf gourami would be cool in a 15.

dwarf puffers , you can have five DPs in your 15 gallon

DP are brackish...
