I just bought a 15 gallon tank. 1. About how many fish can i fit in there?? What is the size limitation? 2. Also, without thinking, i bought live plants for my tank called kyoto grass plants (Ophiopogon japonica) without checking their light needs. i have a single 25 watt flourescent bulb in my tank, will that be enough light? also, what is needed to keep live plants healthy (do u need fertalizers or anything like that?). thanks for the help!!

well first you need to cycle your tank. i would look up fishless cycling. i would cycle your tank before getting fish. you want to keep to small fish. bigger size fish wont have room to move. i wouldnt want to put anytyhing in there bigger then a inch or two. how many fish depends on the type. i wouldnt want to put more then 7 or so small sized fish. you might be able to put more depending on the fish. i never heard of kyoto grass plants before. i googled it and it seems to be a outdoor plant not a plant for a fish tank. 25w over a 15 would be low light. you would want something like java moss or jave fern or some of the other low light plants.

Ophiopogon japonica is not a true aquatic plant. We have the stuff in our backyard. Looking on google very quickly, it looks like it can live submersed for periods of up to 12 months at which point you would want to plant it outside. It's probably more for use in vivarium set-ups like for turtles and such.
