what south and centeral cichlids would go good together in a 150 gallon 72x18x24. i have owned fish tanks in the past i have had many cichlids but its been so long i have to get a refreshed memory

the fish that intrest me are and i am not looking to breed or if a pair happens i will sale back to lfs

i also have questions about lighting i use to have a double flurescent light fixture the light i had was named aqua somthing but i sold that tank in now i cant remeber what are best 2 lights for south and centeral american cichlids

i wanna use black gravel or black sand only problem is sand gets caught in powerfilters but im afraid to use canister filters.:goldfish::goldfish::goldfish::goldfish::goldfish::goldfish::goldfish: with my last tank i bought 2 and one of them had a rip in the cord in it caught my house on fire so

so any feed back or advice would be really apreciated please note that the fish i listed above are what fish that interest me doesnt mean im going to put all those fish in one tank

Decent sized school of clown loaches, a big centerpiece, and a schooling fish.

thanks mela i just use my imagination the blue light tank is 46 bowfront growout the other two tanks are 90 gallon and 125 i also have a 300 gallon but its in the process of being maintiance so again thanks for your kind words

An oscar cichlid would be nice for a big tank like a 150 gallon. Pearsei cichlids are cool fish. An arawana might get a little big for a 150 nad really a 180 is better so unless you don't mid have a solo arawana I would not get one. Pbass are nice...

oscaroo your correct i would love to have a black tiger oscar only problem is i can never keep oscars alive i have tried to keep my water levels in tempature in correct range they just always die idk why.lighting and caves in the are good as you can see in my pictures above it really bothers me because ive kept many differnt cichlid all the ones i listed above even dovii's and umbee's so i would imagine all cichlids would have about the same range of water levels correct only thing i can think of is maybe my filters wasent keeping my tank clean enuff could that be but then why would my other fish be alive just the oscar's die thanks

ROYWS3 i agree with you i use to have 4 salvani cichlids in a 75 gallon with severums and firemouths jewel cichlids and clown loaches but the salvani's got some deisies it was to looked like white cotton i. i went to my lfs today and i seen a veja symulis cichlid about 5 inches for $22 i have a hard time getting good picks on fish because most times all my state in town have are jack dempsey's convicts firemouths red devils oscars so i dont have much of variety thanks for commenting
