So I decided to rescape my 15g into a moss / anubias low light tank. Here's how it came out so far:

The moss on the skinnier branches is taiwan, the stuff on the log is a mix of christmas and weeping. The white mesh in / on the substrate has java moss in it, which I'm hoping I'll be able to turn into a carpet.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to lose that anubias there, but I have 3 plantlets of petite nana coming in some I think those will go in there nicely.

Couple questions:
Will the moss go through the usual "adjustment" periods that most plants go through before it starts to grow?
How long will it take the moss to attach itself to the wood (about)?
How much will the moss fill in? As you can see, there are bare spots on the wood. Will these fill in or do I need to cover all the areas that I want to have moss with moss (i.e. the moss will just grow up rather than spreading out)?

any suggestions on how to make improvements are always welcome :thm:

On a side note...how do you all take pictures? I'm using a Nikon D80 and I just can't get a decent picture of the tank.

I'll try to answer your questions,

1. It shouldn't take long, it will probably be a couple days.
2. IME, it takes about 2-3 weeks.
3. Moss usually just spreads out, not really crawling on surfaces. If you cut the strands that you already have into smaller strands about 1/2 inch long, each cut will sprout a new growth spot making the moss thicker looking. If you don't want to mess with it, you can wait until it grows thick, trim it, and re-attach it to the thin areas.
4. I have a kind of cheap digital camera, and I find the best way to take pictures is without flash, a steady hand, and low exposure time. (Usually -1.3 to -1.7 for me.) Another thing, if you turn off the room lights and keep the tank lights on, Full Tank Shots look way better. It also keeps the glare away from your pics.
