Thanks EVERYBODY, you're a great group to hang out in cyber space with. :bowing:
Happy -- You're right, it's mainly the bicycling that did it for me. That and just being more sensible about what I put in my body. I got back into the bicycling mainly for the weight loss, and now I'm hooked on bicycling for the fun of it. I only live 3 miles from work, but leave home an hour early to get extra time in the saddle. Last Friday (day after Thanksgiving), I went on an 81 mile solo ride (on a mountain bike mind you). It took me six hours and I went through 100 oz of water, about 48 oz of Gatorade, and a box granola bars. I'm now looking for a decent road bike so that next year I can get into some charity century (100 miles plus) events.
As far as diet is concerned, I've done the following:
Gave up soda cold turkey 2 years ago.
Weaned myself away from sweetened iced tea and fruit drinks.
Weaning myself away from sweetened coffee (and now sweeten it with a little honey instead of 2 teaspoons of sugar.
Drink LOTS of water.
Eat a lot more fruit and veggies.
Eat high fiber 100% whole wheat breads and high fiber unsweetened or naturally sweetened breakfast cereals.
****MOST IMPORTANT**** Try my hardest NOT to get to the point where I feel stuffed (or even full) before leaving the table.
Since the bicycling has become pretty important to me, I'll probably shoot to lose a little more of my body fat percentage next spring, but for now I'm thrilled to be back at a comfortable 32" waist when two years ago my 42" pants were getting pretty snug.
Well, I guess I'd better get down off my pedestal. Thanks again for the kudos y'all.
