165

I'm happy for you, the improved energy you can have with such weight loss is nice.

I, and my wife, are in the other boat of not being able to gain weight like chunks.

the two of us don't weigh more than 260 lbs together... I'll be comming on here and shouting for joy if I ever get up to 160 lbs as that would be closer to a supposed 'healthy' weight for me

Oh well, I'm comfortable where I'm at right now.
hehehe, I am too ;)

Great Job Sensei, you rock as always!! You just keep on getting better and better!! :D

Frickin awesome Sensei!!!!

Chunksofpoo ~ my hubby is the same way as you... well he weighs, hmm, I'll guess about 160, but he eats like a PIG, doesn't do any excercise at all, comes home from work and watches tv or plays video games! Example of eating like a pig: 1 large bowl of bryers vanilla ice cream every nite, sometimes he'll crush up 10 or so oreos and mix them into it, if he isn't in the mood for ice cream he'll just eat a whole row of oreos or like 1/2 of an entemenns cake if we have one in the house, or sometimes a whole box of hostess mini powdered donuts. AND his cholesterol is healthy to boot. It's not fair!

tell him we're awesome; a new type of super human that cannot be stopped.....although we're generally too lazy to be doing anything anyways.....meh

A little off topic, but a number of years ago researchers discovered a family in Cicily who manufacture a protein that allows them to have choloesterol through the roof and be completely free of heart attacks. The protein breaks up the clots that form on the artery walls before they can become a problem.

I'll tell you happy, it's definately something in his genes, because his grandfather and uncles are all exactly the same way!! Chunks, are the guys in your family the same way? It's SO bizarre because his grandmother, mother and aunts all have to watch what they eat because they have high cholesterol... It just amazes me, every year when he goes in for his physical I wait for his cholesterol results, waiting to tell him he has to stop the ice cream madness... eh, its SO not fair... let's just hope my son gets his metabolism from daddy :D

Thanks EVERYBODY, you're a great group to hang out in cyber space with. :bowing:

Happy -- You're right, it's mainly the bicycling that did it for me. That and just being more sensible about what I put in my body. I got back into the bicycling mainly for the weight loss, and now I'm hooked on bicycling for the fun of it. I only live 3 miles from work, but leave home an hour early to get extra time in the saddle. Last Friday (day after Thanksgiving), I went on an 81 mile solo ride (on a mountain bike mind you). It took me six hours and I went through 100 oz of water, about 48 oz of Gatorade, and a box granola bars. I'm now looking for a decent road bike so that next year I can get into some charity century (100 miles plus) events.

As far as diet is concerned, I've done the following:
Gave up soda cold turkey 2 years ago.
Weaned myself away from sweetened iced tea and fruit drinks.
Weaning myself away from sweetened coffee (and now sweeten it with a little honey instead of 2 teaspoons of sugar.
Drink LOTS of water.
Eat a lot more fruit and veggies.
Eat high fiber 100% whole wheat breads and high fiber unsweetened or naturally sweetened breakfast cereals.
****MOST IMPORTANT**** Try my hardest NOT to get to the point where I feel stuffed (or even full) before leaving the table.

Since the bicycling has become pretty important to me, I'll probably shoot to lose a little more of my body fat percentage next spring, but for now I'm thrilled to be back at a comfortable 32" waist when two years ago my 42" pants were getting pretty snug.

Well, I guess I'd better get down off my pedestal. Thanks again for the kudos y'all. :)
