2.5g and a Betta

One of my bettas wraps himself around a tube at the bottom when he sleeps. I think he may have been groggy... it takes them a few minutes to wake up cuz they can be pretty lazy :)

Mine was actually wrapping himself around the heater tube...

That is a nice tank, but I think you could find a glass one bigger and cheaper. I got a 60g with a nice oak stand, and everything but the filter for 100 dollars on ebay! Check that out and your local paper if you're not against a used tank! I would hold off on the move until the tank cycles, just to avoid any further stress, but there may be a way to do it! I'm sure if there is someone will let you know!!

You can go to almost any pet shop that sells fish supplies and walk out with a ten gallon, hood, light, biowheel filter, heater and thermometer for less than the price of that Eclipse system.

I'd like to give him more room. I like that tank, because the filter doesn't take up too much room in it. Giving more space! I would almost think if I did move him, it would make it easier for the tank to cycle...

But a simple 5 gallon glass tank will be much cheaper probably. I would price it out. You just need a heater, tank, glass cover and maybe some rocks. I use a small shop light on top off my tank for lighting. It cost 9 dollars at walmart plus 4 more for a timer. Without live plants any light source will do.

I need an enclosed top because I have two cats. I also do have live plants and in my current 2.5, and I got a flourescent light bulb for it.... I just want to give him more room, but I can't fit a 10 g in my small living room in my apartment.

Try maybe a 5 gallon tank, that is if you want something bigger. But your 2.5 tank should be fine, just do regular water changes and if you worry about the temp, instead of a regular heater, try a reptile heating pad underneath the tank. That is a better way of heating such a small tank.
But talk about fitting tanks in a 1 bedroom.. i owned 2 55 tanks, a 40 gallon breeder, a 29 and a 15 and a 10.
I had plenty of room but each room had a tank. :)

i have a 55g in a one bedroom apartment along with a 10g hospital tank with a couple guppies

Woah, that's a lot!

Don't you think he'd be happier in a 5 though (more room to swim)?
Yes they tend to shine in a larger tank. I used to keep mine in a 29 gallon with guppies. The guppies would breed and they tended to leave them alone. I know people have warned about Betta's attacking guppies but I never had any problems.
But I have also kept males in 2.5 gallon tanks as long as I have kept them in my 29 gallon, on average 2.5 years. But that is the normal life span of a Betta.

Oh and yes, that was alot of tanks but it just didnt seem that crowded. I had plenty of room in my bedroom with a 55 in there. It was very roomie and the tank added some flare.
