So i went to wal mart and didnt read the box before i bought the strip and didnt realize it only holds to bulbs. (48'') So in order to get my med-high light input will 2 of the 48'' strips work? that would give me 4 bulbs which are at 32 watts each. 2 of the shop light fixtures will fit on top of my tank....just would look kinda weird.

What size tank is this? I'm guessing 55w? You could do some low-light plants with one of the shoplights, with two of them you would have 128w or so, which would be enough to do med light plants, assuming this is over a standard 4' tank such as a 55. Replacing the T12 bulbs with T8s will also get you a marginal gain in light into the tank. Better reflectors would be a big help as well, since those shoplights come with practically no ability to reflect light downward.

ok so place like a sheet of aluminum foil under there? currently they are t8 bulbs 32 watt daylight bulbs.

Aluminum foil might help - you can also search for parabolic reflectors, some horticultural sites sell them as well as aquaria-related sites.
