20-25 gal setup

Lol Mr A...I'm guessing your best bet is to do some serious online research into planted tanks...and the different choices in substrate and UGF or no UGF...proper lighting and the like.

It's much better to make educated decisions when first putting a tank together, than to find something else you should have used AFTER the supplies are bought and the tank is all put together...I'm certainly sure ALL of us have been down THAT road a time or two !

I absolutely agree! I set up a tank without the intention of keeping live plants, then when I decided to go planted I converted to PC lighting, switched from UGF/HOB to a canister filter and replaced the gravel with flourite, then learned that the footprint of my tank was too narrow (front to back) for the type of aquascape I envisioned. I upgraded the tank, the stand, bought another light fixture, more flourite, realized my large piece of driftwood didn't fit with my aquascape and bought some bogwood. I'm finally very happy with the tank, but it would have been much easier and less expensive to purchase the tank, stand, filter, substrate and appropriate lighting right off the bat :D
