I decided to upgrade my 10 gallon to a 20 high. The stand the 10 is on can hold a 20 high but not a 20 long. I got the tank on sale and only had to buy a 5lb bag of black sand and a nice piece of mangroove root I found. Already had the glass top, a cycled AC 50, heater, 15lbs of black sand, and light. Can’t wait to set it up later.

I finally got it set up a few days ago. Need some more plants to fill the back a bit and one corner.
Current stock is a giant betta, 4 amano shrimp and a clown pleco. I plan on getting either ember or gold neon tetras and panda corydoras. 715563B4-C517-4FB6-B1D9-CC9DAAF97BF8.jpeg

Would suggest no pandas or neons... they need cooler temps than bettas. Instead why not some hastatus corydoras and cardinals?

I love the rocks! They have really cool stripes on them. Are they a local find, or did you buy them somewhere?

I could do cardinal tetras if I can find them. I can never find hastatus corydoras but can find pygmy corydoras at times. I know Black Neons can handle the same temperatures as bettas, I have them in a 40 Breeder with 5 female giant bettas, but I would rather have different species per tank.
The rocks are called purple zebra rocks I think, I got them at petco. I may pick up more to add to the scape.

I will probably go with kuhli loaches instead of corydoras. I may move the clown pleco to another tank.
What’s i’m thinking stocking wise. 8-10 Cardinals, 1 male betta, 4 amano shrimp, 4-6 kuhli loaches, and possibly the clown pleco. Tank is over filtered.

Id bump to 6-8 kuhlis, they love groups. More the merrier with them!

I couldn’t get cardinal tetras anywhere I went and the ones I found were to tiny and will turn into betta snacks. I ended up with 5 rummynose tetras, going to pick up a few more to up it to 7 or 8 and do 8-10 kuhli loaches.
I did add more plants and moved things around but it looks better.
