20 gallon lighting

From my understanding Glosso can be just as demanding. Under lower light it may not carpet...

If you want a more recent outlook on lighting I suggest reading up on PAR:

I've found dwarf sags to be pretty easy and undemanding, however they may not be the exact foreground plant you seem to be looking for...some people have success with HM (H. micranthemoides) under less high tech conditions but mine always wanted to grow up instead of spreading across the substrate.

I didn't realize that those little bulbs would work in a strip light. The end of the tube bulbs seems too big for the compact bulbs to fit.

CFLs will fit right into incandescent sockets.

From what i read glosso will grow upward instead of horizontal in low light conditions. So as far as getting the best lighting with what i have, what would be my best option? I assume using CFL lights on the 10 gallon aquarium hood? I saw at ACE Hardware they had "aquarium lights" but they were probably low light bulbs

I don't believe there are any reflectors on it. Its a really old hood light. Just plastic underneath. Maybe i'd be able to build my own reflectors
