20 gallon tank kit

Get a marineland bio wheel 150 for the 20 g. Works very well at filtering out all the unnecessary chemicals and also has the bio wheel for the needed bacteria/

I'm running, basically, the 20g top fin kit from petsmart, which seems to do the job.

in the box, for around 75 bucks:
all glass 20g tank, hood, light strip
all-glass 100w branded 100w heater
Top Fin 20 HoB filter (a rebranded Tetra Whisper PF20)
cheap net

been up and running a few months now - since:
-the lightstrip died after a week, Petsmart replaced, no-questions-asked, with a slightly higher quality perfecto strip
-replaced the filter with a Whisper 30 - the 20's now running on my wife's 10 gallon.

For reasonable quality, entry-level bits, it's convenient, and gets you up and running, even if you might save a few bucks cobbling together. By all means, check out that Petco deal; knowing that some of this stuff will probably get upgraded later.

that sounds like a good deal... im gonna go check it out!

If you go with the Tetra Filter, spend the extra 3 or 6 bucks to go bigger! Skip a McDonalds trip and save yourself alot of long term frustration and expense. More filtration=good. (I leared the hard way...)

lol thats what im thinking... Im probably gonna buy a filter for a 30-40 gl. tank

Good on you! Let us know how it progresses!

My personal experience with tank kits is that most of the time (with some exceptions, or course), the equipment that you receive is underpowered, and in some cases is a lesser quality than what you could piece together for a bit more money. In the long run, you may become unsatisfied with the kit, and end up spending more money to upgrade your equipment. This is what I did, anyway, lol! For a 20 gallon, I'd suggest a quality 100 watt heater, like a Jager, VisiTherm, or the like, and a quality hang-on filter that turns your water over somewhere around 10 times per hour, like the Penguin 150 or 200, or the Aquaclear 30 or 50. Craigslist and Ebay are often great options too!

And, if you live anywhere near KY, click in my sig as I am selling a 29 gallon complete setup that you might like.

I trust the All Glass Aquarium kit. :) They're like the major glass tank makers and they're kit is quite good! I got to see it a few hours ago but didn't buy it yet.

Cant wait 'til summer :headbang2:

Also, I live so far away from you lol.
