:dance2: I have a 20g tank that has f male guppies. I wanted to add more guppies but wasn't sure how many or what other fish might go nicely. Any suggestions would be great.

How many?

How many guppies do you have in the tank? and its a 20gallon?

There are many fish that can go, depending on what you are looking for- if you want it to be pretty, you can add several tetras, or dwarf gouramis (stay away from red ones), or even mollies or swordtails. I would not recommend danios, as they can be pretty mean to other fish (in my experience).
Is this a planted tank, does it have hiding places, how often will you be cleaning it? These are all important for selection purposes, for although you can put in a number of fish, the more you add, the more often you need to change the water.
Do you have any cleaner-upper fish in there? a small pleco would do nicely, one that isn't as sensitive to PH changes or water conditions (trinidad or sailfin).
I just bought some local (german blue) rams that are great. They are cichlids, but they do well with other fish of similar size and do not eat plants very much(at all). Males are dominant among their own kind, and they do best in pairs (our trouble was telling them apart).
Have you been in the hobby long, is the tank well established? You'd probably be safe to add three fish about every week until you have your total number, and make sure you don't put any of the fish store water in your tank.
There's also cory cats (which are just great bottom-feeders, the albinos are especially friendly). They like to be among their own kind, so 3 is a good number, and they can be mixed and matched with other colors and sizes.
Another sucker fish choice would be otocinclus, which also like to be in at least 3 together, but with a smaller tank like a 20g you might have to put food in for them to eat, and not just let them eat the leftovers.

Hope this helps!!

Good points^ :)

As far as bottom-dwelling fish go, corys are great to have in small groups for a 20 gallon. They'll add lots of interest to the lower areas of your aquarium. Dwarf loaches (Botia sidthimukni) would make a good addition too, growing to about 2" I believe.

I've never had interspecies aggression with danios myself but it would still be better to choose another fish because a school of danios will probably need more swimming room than a 20 gallon can afford.

Whatever fish you decide on, make sure they all get their fair share of food (of course not too much food). Just because they live on the bottom doesn't mean cories or loaches or otos should have to live off the scraps that descend from above.

Anyways, best of luck with your setup. I hope all your selections are compatible :).

I put my 2 male guppies in my 29 gallon tank with 1 blue gourami, 2 platys, and 2 female mollies. Within 20 minutes of putting them in the tank 1 guppies tail was shredded so I had to put both of them back into another tank.I'm not sure what fish did it but I have a feeling that it was the blue gourami and the mollies(because mine are pretty mean).

5!

Sorry it was five male guppies. I clean it about once a week and it is pretty well established (it used to have other fish). Thanks for all the suggestions!
P.S. I've never had my danios show aggresion towards other fish either. But who knows.

Also I heard from other people that they a snail in thier tank that ate algae(sp?). I thought it might be fun to have a snail for something different. Any thoughts from those who know things i hope to one day learn?
