I dont want anything huge, so I have a 26gal and a 55gal. One day I would like to test saltwater and the reefs. I would like 2 clown fish, and 1-2 yellow gobies. So now the question, how much more of operating cost would the 55 vs the 26 gallon be? And would those fish above be happy in a 26gal aquarium thats 5 sided and 24" wide?

all of them would fit in the 26. but only get one goby as they can be a little territorial in small spaces. operating costs wouldn't be that much different untill they became reef tanks(the 55 would need larger light bulbs and they'd be more $$)
setting up would be the price difference. more Live rock in the 55 means higher costs. but in a 55 you could do more and bigger fish.

55 will cost more to set up...but will be easier in the long run...quote]

Exactly. Initially the live rock and lights will be more costly. In the long run the only added expense is that you'll use a little bit more salt in the larger tank for water changes.

more room = more fish depending on what exactly you are wanting. I would go with the 55G
