29 Gallon Aquarium, lots of questions and advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!

by deformed i mean a molly was deformed so they started breeding it with other mollys to keep that balloon feature. i dont know if theyre more suspectable to disease or not. killifish dont NEED a species tank. get non anuals bc annuals die very quick bc thats what they do in the wild. if you do killifish i recomend any gardneri species. they will breed but the eggs or fry will get gobbled up. also some recomendations for tankmates are rasboras, small tetras (1.5 inches or less), corys, and other small peaceful fish.you can see my male killifish as my avatar.

Ah okay, well I am still conflicted on them then. I just really liked the one I had, such a fun personality. But then again, I don't like ballooning in any other fish either.. so idk.

As for killifish, I was looking on liva aquaria and prices are $29.99 for a garneri sp. are they all this expensive? And your male is gorgeous! :D

And yep, basically no female live bearers

i paid 22 dollars (including shipping) for my pair. the best place to buy them is on aquabid. killifish have great personalities. today my male bit my finger when i was feeding them :) they are fearless.

Aw how cute lol. Can I just do all males or all females?

if you can find someone who sells them like that then yea. id do males though bc females are like female guppies. very pale looking, and you might want to stick with 1-3 males.

Males will try to fight each other. The alpha would most likely stress out the other males and they will hide.

the breeder i bought from said that males were fine together and he breed 2 males with a couple of females

Yes but the second male was probably chased off most of the time. I had 2 males by themselves in a 20 long with no other fish and they still fought.

I would just get a pair. Other fishes will eat their eggs so you don't have to worry about fry.

oh well you know more then i do about killifish. so yea a pair would be best and youd get to see breeding behavior.

Sorry I meant betta sorority but auto correct changed it tosomething else
Like insaid before Lillie do better in species tanks and not community tanks. I guess the exception would be clown killies. They are nice looking fish but have some special needs. We had a speaker come in and talk to our club about these fish. It was neat but they are not for everyone.

while they may do better in species only tanks they'll do just fine in a peaceful community tank. why do you think they do beter in species only tank? do you think they dont see other fish where they come from?
