I am setting up a tank 29 gallons and I would like to put julies in it, if so what else could I put in there? And also, what other stocking options do I have for tang fish?
Personally I wouldn't stock anything other than J. transcriptus (NOT the Gombe" variant!) in a 29, particularly if you plan to mix another species with them.
Multi's would be the best choice if you want to breed both, and have at least some fry survive in the tank.
When I was going to stock my 25-ish gallon that was the stock recommended to me by members at cichlid-forum. A little tight, but it could work if you are diligent at removing fry.
Only a breeding pair of Julidochromis transcriptus and maybe 3 Neolamp Multifasciatus..
A rock pile to one side and a shell field to the other side transcripts will get to 3" and the Multi's 2" 3 to 4 shells per shellie should be fine more the better with the shells aye..
