3 days smoke free!!!

That's excellent that you're quitting! My mom has cancer so everyone tells her to quit...not really working lol. My family just has smoking problems!! Hahaha no one wants to be healthy, I guess.

More power to ya! Keep going...I'm sure it'll be rewarding!

Now I've got to show this to my mom! Lol.

Congrats on the quit endeavor! I tried and failed so I admire others who can keep their quit. someone posted more money to spend on fish... that is certainly an enticing idea. I just may have to try and quit again... anyway, keep up the good work cheech!

Check in

6 days and doing good:) i always wanna go smoke after my daughter goes to sleep (habit) anyways. I think its actually getting easier.

I was thinking about it last night, about all the times i used to quit before, and i realized that YOU, yourself hafta be ready to quit. You hafta know it deep down in your soul. I was told "you really need to quit. you're going to get lung cancer, you smell gross" all that stuff...and that did nothing. Finally i was sick of it. and its working...SO FAR. I dont wanna jinx myself or anything. but yea! my daily non-smoking rant;)

Man quitting smoking is eeeeeasyyyy. I've done it 5 times already.
Day 3 is the peak of the physical symptoms, then from week 1-2 you'll feel pretty good, but then after two weeks the mental tricks kick in "You've made it this far, you can get away with one, you're so stressed out, cmon, give yourself a break! But make it to day 30 and it gets way easier. I've never made it past 20 but I have faith in you. Hang in there buddy, don't let the evil tobacco companies win! And don't watch TV. My worst triggers are those **** nicorette commercials and people smoking in movies.

After 15 years I finally quit smoking for 10 months by using Zyban for about 2 1/2-3 months. It really worked for me but I admire you FL for going at it cold turkey! And whoever else can successfully go that route. There's nothing wrong with using an aid to quit if it works for you however. Good luck, I didn't even know you were trying to do this! Do it for you know who and that'll keep you inspired! :)

Just a little warning about zyban and other non-nicotine quit smoking aids... Zyban is the same drug as wellbutrin, an anti-depressant. While these drugs work well for many and they have no problem getting off of them, a great percentage of people have big troubles quitting neurotransmitter reuptake inhibitors. I myself was on lexapro, a drug with a similar action for about 6 months and went through 4 months of hellish withdrawal symptoms after slowly tapering my dose and quitting the stuff. Many people I know have shared similar experiences with wellbutrin and other antidepressant drugs. Just know if you start taking these it might be more difficult to quit than the cigarettes. I'd save that for a last resort. Nicotine is a tricky drug to quit because it is so readily available, but you sound like you really want to quit deep down inside, and that's the only thing that's really going to help you.

Perhaps if your taking inhibitors for depression or other psychological reasons I could see someone becoming dependent but IME since I was using this drug (which yes is the same as wellbutrin) specifically to quit smoking it was not something I wanted to continue taking by any means. It definitely didn't make me feel great on a day to day basis and I did suffer from some of the said side effects (insomnia, jitteriness, etc..) but the one thing it actually DID do was make me disgusted with cigarettes and not have any physical withdrawl symptoms from nicotine. This unpleasant 2 or 3 months of feeling emotionally weird and not sleeping and feeling like "not myself" was worth being able to kick this horrible 15 year habit for good (I've quit about 5 times previous to this as well Chico ;)). Obviously, it's not for everyone, and that's exactly why you can't just go to the drug store and buy it BUT if you have really tried everything else and fail to quit smoking I definitely recommend looking in to it.

Im still going!! its been over a month...i still have cravings tho...and god the smoking dreams! last night i think i smoked a whole darn carton(in my dream)! but im doing good when im awake! thanks for thinking of me:p
