So, I'm starting up a 30 Gallon Breeder within the next few weeks after I finish a move, and I'm looking for some help with my stock list, as I'm not super amazing at gauging stocking. I've had many successful tanks in the past, and am planning on doing a fishless cycle before I get any fish (I have a friend loaning me some filter pads from his tank to help speed it up). The tank is 36"x18"x 12", with height being the smallest dimesion (36"x18" footprint), and I'm going to be running a Marineland Penguin rated for a 50 gallon on it, and probably another smaller filter.
Anyways, I was going for the following:
12 Zebra Danio (or Leopard or Fire Ring)
2-3 Apple Snails
1 Rubber Lip pleco
1 Rainbow Shark
Now, the thing I need advice on is the shark. The two I've had in the past have been rather docile, and lived with cories, orange finned loaches, angelfish, danios, platies, and rainbowish with no issue. However, in those tanks, there was always something (usually my angelfish) who would put them in their place. There isn't anything like that here. The danios are zippy little guys, so I'm not sure if this'll work...
If it doesn't, I'm considering a pair of Kribensis or a Pear or Gold Gourami as options...
Thanks in advance for the help.
