I've got a 30 gallon breeder 36"x12"x16" that is a clean slate ready for stocking. It is moderately planted and has 400gph of filtration. I just can't decide what i want to do with it. Community maybe, or one large school...i cant make up my mind. What would you put in if it was yours?

I'd probably do a tank with a big group of harlequin rasboras, some kuhli loaches, and a pair or trio of rams (bolivian or german blue, depending on what you have availible). IME, the rasboras are wonderful schoolers and ideal for getting that "big school" look.

Ive looked at those galaxies before. I might be mistaken but i thought they required cooler water or something. Neat little fish though for sure... i kind of like the idea of maybe 15-20 harlequin rasboras though... dont know if i want to try GBR's again, there so finicky.

Geez, lots of cool possibilities. I have CPDs (galaxy rasboras) & rosy loaches along with yunnanalus crucitus in a smaller tank. Those & a pair of honey gouramis...uber-cool!

A small but interesting riverish tank with gobies & hillstream loaches & Vietnamese whiteclouds or small danios (tinwinii?).

Go SA with a bunch of cories & little tetras...or go all Asian with kuhli loaches, cherry shrimp & threadfin rainbows (or gertrudaes or furcata).

Love the footprint, you can do a lot!

So for starters I'm trying to decide between 15-20 Harlequin rasbora, or 10-12 tiger barbs. I know that tiger barbs can get nippy and kinda of aggressive with each other. If I go with barbs what are some other fish that will co-exist alright with them?

After seeing this video a while ago, I've been set on getting rummynose for a future tank.

The video uploader did mention that after two months they don't school like they do in the video as much. I'm thinking maybe a few large gentle fish (angelfish perhaps or gouramis) would keep them schooling.

I like the idea of a school with larger fish - I think that's why my neon stick together. Out of curiosity, the tank in that video is high tech, CO2, ferts, hi-light, right? (If I only had the budget....)
