Im getting a 35 gallon hex aquarium for free from a friend. Does anybody know what the dimensions of this would be. Also, I want this to be a natural look, and I need ideas for the background and aquascaping, im not really good at that stuff. Thanks. No live plans, as the lighting wont be enough, but I have no problem with fake plants.

there's a running thread on tank dimensions that should help with the first question

as for the second question, this is what I would do. I'm assuming it's taller than it is wide, so you'll want to go with long, draping/trailing plants. Measure the depth of your tank and subtrack 2-3 inches to account for gravel and water mark, then buy artificial plants that are about that height. buy a couple to start with, plus some smaller ones too. find some drift wood or ornaments or whatever else fits your tastes to go in there too. you want to have space for fish to hide and space for fish to swim. Good luck!
