Does anyone have any thoughts on a 37 gallon tall? I'd prefer a deeper/longer tank to the taller one, but I was able to get one for about $20 less than the 29 gallon I had been looking at.

We have a 60 gallon(48x13x24), an Eclipse 12.

I want a deeper and/or longer tank, but buying the stand at this time puts it out of my price range. I HAVE a stand for a 29 gallon, so when I saw the 37 with hood and tank for $59, I purchased it. If I couple this with an online purchase of a stealth heater and Powerwheel 350b, I'll be able to start a new tank for less than $100.

I have enough "extra" substrate and rocks/driftwood. I would only need some plants to get this tank running.

My other complaint(other than length) is the lighting/hood... just 20w, so I'm probably going to have to go low light on the plants. Still this is a "second tank".

We have one and we like it. The only thing that is a pain is reaching the bottom, substrate, plants..etc . I need to stand on a stool or use one of those aquarium gripper thingies or my entire arm is submerged right up to my armpits. I have been known to just take my shirt off when messing about in there and oddly enough, my husband doesn't object.

I have a couple of talls, mainly for display. They do not allow to much more loading since the surface area really isn't that much greater, however they can help better display top/mid/bottom dwellers with the right mix. You can come up with some interesting combos.

The height of the tank can be an issue once you get it on a stand that puts it at a comfortable viewing height. As suggested, long tongs are helpful, as well as a longer gravel vac tube.

Bottom line..A SECOND TANK!!!!!!!! :)

I'm sorta used to the height issue. We have a 60 tall.. I'm 6'1 so I can reach the bottom... IF I take off the canopy! Otherwise it's a stool. This one doesn't have a canopy so it should seem more managable.

Yeah, I know what you mean, the shame is that there isn't enough surface area... but since I was going to get a 29 gallon anyway, and this was cheaper, it'll probably do fine.
