40 gallon tank. how much of live rock?

how many pounds of rock should be in 40 gallons reef tank? i don't think that i have enough. is there such thing as too much rock?

Depends on the rock if it' very light ,"has a lot of empty spaces" 40 lbs should be fine, if it's heavy go for around 1.5 to 2 lbs per gallon. Too much rock well of course if you want to have fish they'll need room to swim. If you want corals and inverts the more surface space to stick em to the better off you are. I myself go for the happy medium ..

that's sounds very good. i like your idea about lighter rock with empty spaces so the fish and others would have more room. that's what i'm going to start looking for.
