i am putting toghter a 40 gallon salt water. my turn it in to reef. lights 192watt 36'' bak pak 2 skimmer 40 pounds of live rock ro unit 3 300 gph power heads 10 pounds dead base rock 150 watt heater. and DSB. any thing else i need?
 
uhh you pretty much got it, what fish and corals are you planning to get. You need a salt mix, reef crystals is meant to be good, hydro or refractometer, thermometer, you planning a sump?
 
no sump will get the other stuff this is just the expeniseve part. 1 sand sifter goby, 2 false peluca clown fish and some type of cardinel fish and some fire fish do they do well togther. then i don't know what type of coarls and detirus pack from inland aquatics.
 
Hey King! I am planning a similar project and it sounds like you have it pretty much covered. I'm moving my 30g to a 40g in a few months and will have the same lights and equipment as you, just a different skimmer.

Be sure to take your time with stocking the tank. Don't add anything more than hermits/ snails for the first few months. Give your LR and Pods plenty of time to establish.

Just curious about the dimensions of the tank, is it 36"L X 18"W, or is it a tall tank? I saw a 40g at LFS that was 36X18, it's the same length of my 30g, just 8" wider. I'm looking forward to having that extra room and still being able to use my current equipment
 
I really want to try Seachems new reef salt but the LFS doesn't carry it and shipping is a killer unless you order 3 bags or more.
 
Don't buy a clean up pack they are a waste of money IMO. Buy a few crabs a few different snails and see what happens if you get an algae buy a cleaner for it. Those packs come with a set # of this and that, if your tank has more hair algae than most you will not have a crew to cover it and you will need more if you don't have enough to feed the cleaners they will die. Build your own crew, works better and in the long run is usually cheaper, the kits sell you a bunch more than you need with the logic of extras will die.

yea they are a waste of money i have less than half the things they say u need in those packs and my tank stays nice and clean.
